The best way to reach many
people on the streets with your advertisement is to put it somewhere people
will look. Japanese advertising company Absolute Territory PR came up with a
new and original idea to rent the legs of young woman. This way they don’t have
to use the traditional paper advertising.
In Japan the area on a woman’s leg between the end
of her skirt and the beginning of her high stockings is known as zettai
ryouiki. This little space is called absolute territory in English and is
considered very appealing for men. A smart Japanese marketer saw the
opportunity for a new kind of advertisement. That’s when Absolute Territory PR
was born.
The young girls come to the office, pick their
temporary tattoo and the workday begins. They have to wander the city and take
pictures of themselves. Then post these on their Twitter, Facebook as proof of
completing their job. The ad must be on at least eight hours and be clearly
visible. In return the girls get between $13 and $128 for one day, depending on
the impact of the advertisement.
There are some specific
qualifications you need before you can become an adgirl. You need to be at
least 18-years old and connected to least 20 people on social networking sites.
The social media is a big part of the job. By sharing and liking the photos,
your friends are distributing the message to their friends. Also the people who
will see you on the streets could possibly take your picture and share this
with their friends.
On November 2012 about 1300
women already registered their legs to become ad space. This kind of work is a
cool way for young girls and students to earn some extra money. Of course this
strategy will attract a lot male attention and the products or services in the
ads will be targeted for man.
The band Green Day also
picked on this trend and started making leg advertisements for their new album
Uno.
